Programs

At Parkhurst Early Learning Centre, our programs are thoughtfully designed to nurture the whole child — emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG), and My Time Our Place (MTOP), we offer age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning.

From our nurturing Nursery to our Kindergarten and Schoolies programs, each stage is tailored to support your child’s development and readiness for their next big step. Our dedicated educators carefully plan learning environments that reflect children’s interests, cultural backgrounds, and individual needs — ensuring every child feels a strong sense of belonging and purpose.

Our Rooms and Services

6 weeks to 15 months

Our Nursery room provides a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment where our youngest learners can feel secure and supported. We understand the importance of strong attachments and gentle routines during this critical stage of development.

Our educators work closely with families to mirror home routines, ensuring each baby’s needs are met with love, care, and consistency. With a focus on sensory exploration, tummy time, music, and early communication, our play-based program supports physical growth, emotional wellbeing, and early brain development — all while building a strong foundation of trust and belonging.

15 months to 2 years

Our Toddler room is designed to support curious minds and busy little bodies as children begin exploring the world with greater independence. At this age, we focus on nurturing social skills, communication, and emotional development through play, routines, and responsive relationships.

With engaging learning spaces, sensory play, music, movement, and hands-on experiences, our program encourages toddlers to investigate, experiment, and express themselves. Our educators provide calm, consistent guidance and work in partnership with families to support each child’s unique rhythm, needs, and cultural identity.

2 to 3 years

Our Junior Kindy room is a vibrant and engaging space where children’s natural curiosity is embraced and celebrated. At this stage, children are developing strong identities, building friendships, and exploring their independence through meaningful play experiences.

Our program supports language development, problem-solving, creativity, and emotional regulation through hands-on activities, group experiences, and rich indoor/outdoor learning environments. Educators encourage children to express themselves, make choices, and engage in purposeful play — all while fostering a strong sense of belonging, culture, and community.

3 to 4 years

Our Senior Kindy room is all about building confidence, cooperation, and a love of learning. At this age, children are developing deeper social connections, stronger communication skills, and a growing sense of identity and independence.

Through intentional play-based learning, group experiences, and project work, we support early literacy, numeracy, creative thinking, and emotional wellbeing. Our educators foster a respectful, inclusive environment where children are encouraged to explore their interests, share their ideas, and take part in shaping their own learning journey — laying the foundations for success in the years to come.

3 to 5 years

Our Kindergarten program provides a rich, play-based curriculum that prepares children for a confident and successful transition to school. Guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG), our qualified Early Childhood Teacher leads a program that fosters critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and resilience.

Children are encouraged to take initiative in their learning, explore their interests, and build strong social-emotional skills through meaningful projects, group experiences, and open-ended play. With a strong focus on belonging, culture, and community — including connections to local schools and Darumbal Country — our Kindergarten program supports every child to grow as capable, curious, and confident learners.

Before and After School Care and Vacation Care (up to 12 years)

Our Schoolies program provides a safe, fun, and supportive environment for children aged 5 to 12 years. We offer Before and After School Care that fits around your family’s routine, with a balance of relaxation, active play, and creative activities.

During school holidays, our Vacation Care program is packed with engaging experiences — from themed days and messy play to cooking, building, and outdoor adventures. It’s a space where older children can make choices, build friendships, and enjoy their time in care. We currently offer transport to and from Parkhurst State School, ensuring a smooth and consistent experience for school-aged children and their families.

Learning Philosophy

At Parkhurst Early Learning Centre, we believe that children are capable, curious, and resourceful learners. Our play-based, child-initiated curriculum supports each child to be seen as a confident, social, and active participant in their own learning journey. We recognise the importance of being knowledgeable about child development, respecting each child’s interests, choices, and rights. Our educators are committed to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice to ensure high-quality learning experiences for all children. We create inclusive, welcoming environments where every child feels valued, appreciated, and connected — fostering a strong sense of belonging. We support children to explore who they are, and guide them through opportunities that nurture identity, resilience, creativity, and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. Our approach is informed by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).

We strive to foster the five key learning outcomes:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Children are confident and involved learners.
  • Children are effective communicators.

We value respectful partnerships with families, and honour cultural and linguistic diversity — particularly our connection to Darumbal Country. Through strong community ties, anti-bias practice, and flexible, engaging environments, we support each child in their unique path of belonging, being, and becoming.
